This steep garden was overgrown, neglected and in need of a complete makeover.  We transformed it into a mini-oasis creating terraced planting areas, a ground floor patio and a large upper decking level accessed via a timber stairway.

Using our mini digger (which can fit through a standard doorway) we cleared and excavated the steep banks of soil creating separate useable levels, using timber posts set in concrete to provide solid retaining walls.

For the lower patio we laid an aggregate sub-base and installed drainage with recessed covers before finishing with attractive Cotswold patio slabs and reclaimed railway sleepers.  To create the large upper-level decking area we positioned a timber sub-frame over a weed-suppressant membrane before laying the decking and balustrade.  Finally we constructed a sturdy timber staiway to connect the upper and lower levels together.  Reclaimed sleepers were again used to define the terraced planting areas, both of which were carefully positioned to ensure easy access from the patio.
